Vegetarian Weight Loss Diet Plan for 18 to 50-Year-Old

Proven Diet Strategies That Work Overweight vegetarians are almost unheard of some 20 years ago. Now? Thousands of them spreading throughout the globe. "Thanks" to the modern vegetarian diet infusing with sugar, sodium and unhealthy fat. Unfortunately, you happen to be one of them. But all is not lost, and you're not alone. I've helped hundreds of them to effectively lose weight the vegetarian way thus far.

Here's the overall strategy to help you lose weight as a vegetarian - whatever you do - dieting or exercising, your primary weight loss goal is to make your body use the fat stores to provide the energy it needs while removing excess calories through your dietary consumption.

To achieve this, you need to either consume less calories or expend more calories than you need, or best, consume less AND expend more at the same time! How to do that? Here's a specific vegetarian weight loss diet plan for a day which includes both diet and exercise to maximize fat loss.

6:50 A.M. - Take up a 10-minute high-intensity bodyweight exercises like jumping jacks, pushups, spider climbs etc. After every minute you'll rest for 30 seconds and continue with the workouts. This high-intensity interval training is crucial in an effective vegetarian weight loss diet plan.

7:30 A.M. - (Breakfast) 3 - 4 slices of whole grain bread spread with peanut butter or any nut butter spread, or rolled oats sprinkled with berries (your favorite berries), unsweetened apple juice, cashew nuts and black sesame seeds. Complete your power meal with a veggie smoothie made from 2 handfuls of spinach, a pear and tomatoes.

9: 30 A.M. - (Snack) Perk up with a glass of refreshing smoothie blended from bananas, strawberries, carrots, lettuce, ground flax, virgin coconut oil.

12 P.M. - (Lunch) Pita bread stuffed with alfafa sprouts, chopped cucumbers and juicy cherry tomatoes, laced it with vegan mayonnaise or vegan basil pesto or curried lentils sauce. You can prepare these ingredients in advance the night before or in the morning before leaving for work. Just store them separately in air-tight containers and do the stuffing when you're ready to eat. Pair it up nicely with a glass of unsweetened almond or soy milk.

3:30 P.M. - (Snack) Handful of mixed nuts or your favorite fruits like 2 small bananas, an apple, an orange or a mango.

6:30 P.M. - (Dinner) Make rainbow salad from mixing spinach, sunflower seeds, raisins, shredded apple, shredded beets, firm tofu and your favorite pasta cooked al dente. For dressing, mix 2 tbsp virgin coconut oil with 1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil and 1 tbsp lemon juice.

9 P.M. - Unwind from your hard day's work. Relax and prepare your body for a good night's sleep.

I set this vegetarian weight loss diet plan to give you a picture of what you should do in a day.

A high-intensity exercise in the morning will help you burn more fat compared to a work-out in the afternoon or evening (as proven by numerous studies). Having 5 vegetarian meals spreading out in a 2 - 3 hour interval will keep your body metabolically active and help you stay productive throughout the day.

Contrary to the common belief, adding olive oil and coconut oil at dinner won't make you fat as these oils are actually effective in burning fat, especially coconut oil which can produce a thermogenic (fat-burning) effect of up to 24 hours.

Tofu will help you repair and regenerate new cells and tissues that you might have torn (unknowingly) during your day's work. More generation of new cells actually increase metabolism which boost weight loss. The dinner is low-caloric but filling (keep at 70% satiety level) for you so that you won't crave for supper. The quantity should last you till the following morning.

I suggest that you change your vegetarian weight loss diet every 2 - 3 days to avoid hitting a weight loss plateau. Becoming Vegetarian to Lose Weight

You've probably seen people becoming vegetarian to lose weight, but will it work for all, or more to the point, will it work for you too? What you actually see from other people's success is the end result. What about the transitional phase when they're progressing to becoming vegetarian?

Admittedly, some non-vegetarians do find it easy to convert quickly. But for most people, if you do it the wrong way, you can end up worse than before you take up the vegetarian diet. Let me share with you on how you should prepare for a vegetarian lifestyle. You may or may not lose weight after becoming vegetarian, depending on how well your transition is.

You don't quit cold turkey on your meat consumption. That's way too difficult. Even if you're able to do so, you may face meat cravings after few days. The effective way of phasing out meat is to do it gradually and progressively so that your meat cravings will vanish all by itself.

Take away the meat you like least for a few days, say 5 days. Then advance to remove another meat up your "The Meat I Like" list. Give yourself at least 3 - 8 weeks to phase out meat totally. The good news is, while you're eliminating the meat from your list one after another, and upgrading to the whole natural vegetarian food, you might experience some positive weight loss along the way, naturally.

By the time you become a full vegetarian, you would have lost some amazing pounds then. That's not all, after becoming vegetarian, you'll probably continue to lose weight if you stick to a healthy vegetarian lifestyle which includes a vegetarian diet in its most natural form plus an active exercise routine.

The Hidden Dangers of Your Excess Abdominal Fat

Did you know that the vast majority of people in this day and age have excess abdominal fat? The first thing that most people think of is that their extra abdominal fat is simply ugly, is covering up their abs from being visible, and makes them self conscious about showing off their body.

However, what most people don't realize is that excess abdominal fat in particular, is not only ugly, but is also a dangerous risk factor to your health. Scientific research has clearly demonstrated that although it is unhealthy in general to have excess body fat throughout your body, it is also particularly dangerous to have excess abdominal fat.

There are two types of fat that you have in your abdominal area. The first type that covers up your abs from being visible is called subcutaneous fat and lies directly beneath the skin and on top of the abdominal muscles.

The second type of fat that you have in your abdominal area is called visceral fat, and that lies deeper in the abdomen beneath your muscle and surrounding your organs. Visceral fat also plays a role in giving certain men that "beer belly" appearance where their abdomen protrudes excessively but at the same time, also feels sort of hard if you push on it.

Both subcutaneous fat and visceral fat in the abdominal area are serious health risk factors, but science has shown that having excessive visceral fat is even more dangerous than subcutaneous fat. Both of them greatly increase the risk your risk of developing heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, sleep apnea, various forms of cancer, and other degenerative diseases.

Part of the reason visceral fat is particularly dangerous is that it apparently releases more inflammatory molecules into your body on a consistent basis.

If you care about the quality of your life and your loved ones, reducing your abdominal fat should be one of your TOP priorities! There's just no way around it. Besides, a side-effect of finally getting rid of all of that excessive ugly abdominal fat is that your stomach will flatten out, and if you lose enough stomach fat, you will be able to visibly see those sexy six pack abs that everyone wants.

So what gets rid of extra abdominal fat? Is there actually a REAL solution beyond all of the gimmicks and hype that you see in ads and on commercials for "miracle" fat loss products?

The first thing you must understand is that there is absolutely NO quick fix solution. There are no pills or supplements of any sort that will help you lose your abdominal fat faster. Also, none of the gimmicky ab rockers, rollers, or ab belts will help get rid of abdominal fat either. You can't spot reduce your stomach fat by using any of these worthless contraptions. Spices Shield Against Skin Cancer

Spices Save Your Skin

Skin cancers are the commonest cancers globally and by far the majority of these ubiquitous tumours are caused by excessive exposure to the sun.

The sun's ultraviolet rays (UVR) are those responsible for inducing several pre-malignant processes in the skin. Not only do they damage DNA directly but they also cause inflammation, excess free radical production and immunosuppression. These factors combine to form a tumourigenic cocktail that increases the risk for melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers.

In spite of their potentially damaging effects UVRs also provide crucial health benefits; therefore it is important that the human skin is exposed to the sun for limited periods of time. The most important of these benefits is UVB rays' involvement in the production of vitamin D from dehydrocholesterol in the deep layers of the skin.

There is also evidence that a lack of exposure to the sun's rays is a significant factor in the development of diseases such as multiple sclerosis and certain malignancies other than skin cancer.

It is worth noting that the human body does attempt to prevent the accumulation of radiation damage and does so by initiating repair mechanisms at relatively low levels of radiation exposure.

These processes involve both intrinsic and extrinsic (plant derived) antioxidants, enzymes and other protective plant based compounds and work in the following ways:

1. Activation of mechanisms that counter free radical damage and oxidative stress.

2. Acceleration of programmed cell death (apoptosis) of pre-cancerous cells.

3. Activation of DNA repair mechanisms at low levels of radiation exposure.

There is a dichotomy in relation to UVR. On the one hand, in order to sustain normal physiological processes, we need a certain amount of exposure to the sun. However, if we are exposed to excessive amounts of UVR and have inadequate protective biological processes, we increase our risk for several different types of skin cancer.

It seems obvious that, as humans have lived for eons with constant exposure to the sun, our bodies would have adapted protective strategies to counter the damaging effects of UVR while still obtaining the benefits thereof. We now know what some of these strategies are but, in order to understand how to enhance them, we need to take a look back over thousands of years at the vital role nutrient dense plant foods play in this regard.

Only a few thousand years ago our hunter-gatherer ancestors roamed, more or less naked, predominantly in the sun-drenched regions of the planet. Thanks to a more extensive ozone layer, they were probably exposed to slightly lower doses of UV radiation per unit time than we are today. However they undoubtedly spent long periods of time in the sun while they hunted and collected plant foods. They also had dark skins that gave them an extra measure (but by no means complete) of protection against excessive UVR exposure. There is evidence that they lived well into their sixties and were therefore subject to significant UVR exposure for several decades.

Protective phytonutrients

The key to our forefathers' success in countering UVR damage was their consumption of a diet rich in phytonutrients. Owing to their active lifestyle, hunter-gatherer communities consumed a high calorific diet. The difference between their high calorie diet and a contemporary high calorie diet is that the former consisted largely of richly flavoured (spicy), phytonutrient-dense plant foods while the modern diet is dominated by relatively bland nutrient deficient plant foods.

The nutritional characteristics of the plants that hunter-gatherers consumed were different to ours in that they had far higher phytonutrient/calorie ratios to the plants we eat today. Those that are available nowadays are generally energy dense plant foods with much lower phytonutrient/calorie ratios.

There are two reasons for this. Firstly, we eat many grain based foods that have very high carbohydrate levels and relatively low phytonutrient levels. Secondly, over the centuries, we have bred varieties of most of our grains, fruit and vegetables that are far bigger, sweeter and starchier than they were in their natural state.

Add to this modern chemical farming methods and we now have plant foods with very low phytonutrient/calorie ratios that consist primarily of water and carbohydrates. These provide far fewer protective compounds than they did several thousand years ago. This translates into reduced intake of phytonutrients that, in adequate amounts, could protect us against UVR and other carcinogenic environmental factors.

The only food categories that have more or less escaped the plant breeders' attentions are the spices. Spices are the plant foods closest to those that our ancestors ate. They have extremely high phytonutrient/calorie ratios and contain large concentrations of a wide variety of powerful antioxidants and other protective nutrients.

Recent scientific evidence has shown that several spices contain compounds that are very effective in countering UVR damage to the skin. These molecules possess the ability to act as direct and indirect antioxidants. They have anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties and can activate genes that control lasting protective processes against UVR damage. Scientists working in this field have also noted that multiple antioxidant compounds (found in phytonutrient-rich plants) have a better protective effect than high doses of single antioxidant supplements.

Spices known to have specific protective effects against radiation damage are:

Turmeric contains the anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, curcumin that has remarkable cancer fighting abilities against several cancers including melanomas.

Mustard contains sulphorafane, a non-antioxidant compound also found in cruciferous plants such as broccoli. Sulphorafane works by activating the body's intrinsic cellular defenses against UVR and has been shown counter skin malignancies when used both internally and topically.

Curcumin and sulphoraphane are only two of the spice-based compounds that are currently being studied as possible treatments for a range of skin and other cancers. However, as spices provide a wide array of antioxidant and other protective compounds, it is highly likely that there are many more of them that can help us contain skin cancers as they undoubtedly did for our hunter-gatherer ancestors.

A combination of selective plant breeding, modern agricultural methods and poor dietary habits means that, without an injection into our diets of a significant quantity and variety of phytonutrient-rich foods such as spices, it almost impossible to obtain the optimum quantities of protective plant compounds. This provides 12 grams of lysine. Lysine from food is 200% to 400% more usable by the body than the lysine in supplements. You would have to take 50 lysine capsules, at least, to equal the flounder, which would be crazy. Your body knows the difference.

Here is a short list of foods that cause cold sores. These foods have high content of arginine to lysine. Most nuts, including peanuts, almonds, cashews and walnuts. Grains, such as wheat and oats. Seeds, such as sunflower and sesame, are arginine providers. Also avoid most beans, peas and lima beans. Most vegetables are higher in arginine than lysine, such as carrots, radishes, eggplant, and cabbage. Chocolate is high in arginine.

STOP. Before you give up right here, let me say two things in closing.

Do not hesitate to take lysine capsules just because this form of lysine is not as well absorbed. Many people control outbreaks with the capsules alone.
